Welcome to our website!
ARKANSAS STATE DENTAL HYGIENISTS’ ASSOCIATION PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE Jennifer Lamb Maximizing Membership I am excited to be serving as the Arkansas State Dental Hygienists’ Association’s president! As a board, we have been planning events over the past year which will come to fruition this year. I am very proud to be involved. My theme for 2009 is “Maximizing Membership”. I want all members of the ASDHA to be proud of their membership and to reap the benefits of the membership. The board has compiled the surveys it has distributed over the past year. We have realized three main interests of the members and non members of the association which are: having joint Continuing Education with the Arkansas State Dental Association, having more local Continuing Education opportunities, and having payment plan options for annual dues. As of now, the ASDHA is well on our way to satisfying those interests. We will have a “Breakout Session” with the ASDA on April 9, 2010. We also have Continuing Education opportunities tentatively planned over the next year in all 5 state districts. Lastly, the American Dental Hygienists’ Association has listened to the wants of their members and has again reinstated the quarterly payment plan for dues. I want to leave you with my Top 10 reasons of why I am a member of ADHA/ASDHA. 10. I get a great discount on my liability and disability insurance. 9. I get a discount on Continuing Education courses. 8. I have the opportunity to network with hygienists from around the United States through list services offered by ADHA. 7. I can keep up with the latest research and information with my free subscription to Access Magazine & the Journal of Dental Hygiene online. 6. I get to see old classmates at Continuing Education courses and reminisce about the past! 5. I can stay aware of any issues which may change our scope of practice in Arkansas. 4. I get to be involved at the National and State Level of our organization to ensure the advancement and preservation of the role of the dental hygienist. 3. I get to be a mentor to students and new graduates. 2. I have the knowledge my membership allows ASDHA/ADHA to continue to inform legislators and consumers how oral health & total health are connected as well as educate both groups how dental hygienists are an integral part of the oral health team. 1. I can take pride in my profession. If you are already a member of ADHA/ASDHA, I hope you will take advantage of the new opportunities ASDHA will provide you with this year and investigate the benefits ADHA offers. If you are not currently a member or have not renewed your membership, I hope you will consider the ways ASDHA is trying to maximize your membership and join. Please consider supporting ADHA/ASDHA and invest in the future of your profession. As the oral health needs of Arkansans grow, our profession will need to adapt to provide services. In order to meet these growing needs, the membership support of all hygienists is needed. Please visit us at www.asdha.net or join us on Facebook! Jennifer Vega Lamb RDH, MPH
