Conway teams reach Searcy semis
LOG CABIN DEMOCRAT
SEARCY The Conway basketball teams reached the semifinals of the Searcy Bank Classic with wins here Tuesday night.
The Conway boys picked up their first win of the season, defeating Batesville 50-18. Ten of the 12 players who played for the Cats reached the scoring column.
Robert Moore led Conway with eight points. Jarvis Garner added seven points and eight rebounds, while Matt Snider had seven points. Will Schichtl contributed six points. Colt Fason chipped in eight rebounds.
"Our defense was pretty good early, and we scored in transition," said Cats coach James Bates, whose team improved to 1-1 on the year. "We did a much better job of rebounding than we did the first game. ... It's still a work in progress. The wins help speed up that process."
The Cats will face Tuesday's Searcy-Wynne winner at 8:30 p.m. Friday.
